A member of The Blocks Recording Club Collective, Magali plays under a pseudonym and sometimes full band The Phonemes.
She was a member of the Hidden Cameras and now also writes and performs with an off-kilter 60’s-girl-pop-inspired outfit called Hank.
Magali’s latest release “There’s something we’ve been meaning to do” was recorded by Efrim Menuck (A Silver Mt. Zion, Godspeed you black emperor) at thee mighty hotel2tango (Arcade Fire, Vic Chesnutt) and features ubiquitous wunderkind Final Fantasy.

Catchy melodies and charming vocals are found all over Prairie Cat’s last release, ATTACKS! release on Fuzzy Logic Recordings. Prairie Cat is sometimes one talented man on many instruments, or a band of highbrow hooligans that can keep one hell of a beat!

Women from Calgary / flemsh eye records/ jagjaguwar artists are rolling through town, its their last show in Vancouver for a while.  I think they’re taking a break or going to Europe or some jazz. check it!

Mint records is having a xmas party. Its hosted by your bff Narduwar and he’s also showcasing past interviews from his video vault. You can read it all about in an article I wrote for beyond robson here.

Christmas to me is a time of overly decorated houses, snowmen in backyards and spending time with friends and family. But here in Vancouver where condos outrun houses and there’s a lack of snow, the only thing I can rely on is spending time with friends and family. The good people at Mint Records are putting on a party but not just any party… a Ridiculous Early Christmas Party. Last year Mint Records not only put on a party in Vancouver , but also in Victoria, and the year before that Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand joined Nardwuar the Human Serviette’s the Evaporators on stage to sing “Take Me Out”. This year will probably be no different and equally full of surprises and good times………

Women (jagjaguwar) totally ruled the show, they were a little late due to some microphone problems but rounded off the bill nicely. The show was moved to the Peanut Gallery and not the Dimetric Studios because it shut down, dam po po. Hot Panda (awesome edmontonians), The Bicycles (toronto friends) and Gang Violence opened the bill to almost 300 kids that packed that sweaty basement venue.
